How I Started Seren Floral: Building a Modern Flower Business from Scratch

Starting a flower business has always been a dream of mine. Seren Floral grew out of a simple idea: flowers shouldn’t just be reserved for weddings, anniversaries, or birthdays—they should be part of everyday life. People deserve to buy flowers just because. That belief is what inspired me to launch Seren Floral, a modern floral design studio in Vancouver.

Where the Idea for Seren Floral Came From

I’ve always loved flowers, but I wanted to create something different from traditional floristry. My vision was to design modern, airy floral arrangements that feel fresh, intentional, and sculptural. Instead of classic round bouquets, I experimented with asymmetry, unique flower pairings like roses and anthuriums, and red-themed statement pieces that stand out.

The name Seren comes from serenity—a reflection of the calm, joyful moments flowers can create. I wanted my brand to feel simple, minimalist, and meaningful, while offering people a chance to bring beauty into their homes or gift flowers that feel personal.

From Concept to Flower Business

Launching Seren Floral wasn’t just about creating beautiful bouquets—it was also about learning the business side of floristry. I:

• Researched how to start a florist business in BC, including PST and GST requirements.

• Designed a Shopify website to showcase bouquets, take orders, and process payments.

• Created bouquet collections with names that spark emotion, like the Lovers Serenade Bouquet, designed for couples and romantic occasions.

• Explored farmers’ market flower recipes, including seasonal options that appeal to customers looking for local, fresh flowers.

Every bouquet is designed with care, using a mix of seasonal blooms and modern styling that speaks to people who appreciate both artistry and simplicity.

Building Connections and Community

Seren Floral isn’t only about individual customers—I also see it as a way to connect with the community. I’m building relationships with restaurants, hotels, dental offices, and other local businesses that want floral arrangements to elevate their spaces or surprise clients. 

Why Seren Floral Exists

At its core, Seren Floral is about creating moments. Flowers have the power to make people feel seen, loved, and cared for. Whether it’s a romantic bouquet for lovers, a farmers’ market arrangement for your home, or a corporate floral subscription for a business, my goal is the same: to bring beauty and joy into everyday life.
